Available LanguagesLanguage En Teruel - Dinosaurs and DinopolisThe Community of Teruel has several emblematic palaeontological sites at European level, which is why some of them have been known internationally since before the establishment of Paleontology as a science. Already in 1736 the town of Concud is mentioned as one of the earliest mammalian deposits in Spain, attributing the bones present there to the remains of men and horses that were heaped after a battle. We now know that this is an association of vertebrates, mainly mammals, that originated 7 million years ago. In recent years have made a major and new discovery with wide international repercussions: the discovery in Riodeva of the largest European dinosaur and one of the largest in the world, more than 30 meters in length and 40 tons in weight : Turiasaurus riodevensis. Add to this the patrimonial value of its eight paleontological sites declared to be of Cultural Interest (six of them of dinosaur footprints). This immense paleontological wealth, along with that of the rest of the province, is the germ of the presence in Teruel of the most striking national project of diffusion of Paleontology for the general public: Dinópolis. The palaeontological findings in the Comarca continue their course and other sites await their turn to be excavated and to excite with the results obtained to all those people who love the exciting world of the history of life on Earth: Paleontology. Es Teruel - Dinosaurios y DinópolisLa Comunidad de Teruel tiene varios sitios paleontológicos emblemáticos a nivel europeo, por lo que algunos de ellos han sido conocidos internacionalmente desde antes del establecimiento de la Paleontología como ciencia. Ya en 1736 la ciudad de Concud es mencionada como uno de los primeros depósitos de mamíferos en España, atribuyendo los huesos presentes allí a los restos de hombres y caballos que fueron amontonados después de una batalla. Ahora sabemos que se trata de una asociación de vertebrados, principalmente mamíferos, que se originó hace 7 millones de años. En los últimos años se han realizado grandes y nuevos descubrimientos con amplias repercusiones internacionales: el descubrimiento en Riodeva del dinosaurio europeo más grande y uno de los más grandes del mundo, con más de 30 metros de longitud y 40 toneladas de peso: Turiasaurus riodevensis. A esto se añade el valor patrimonial de sus ocho sitios paleontológicos declarados de Interés Cultural (seis de ellos de huellas de dinosaurios). Esta inmensa riqueza paleontológica, junto con la del resto de la provincia, es el germen de la presencia en Teruel del más notable proyecto nacional de difusión de la paleontología para el público en general: Dinópolis. Los hallazgos paleontológicos en la Comarca continúan su curso y otros sitios esperan su turno para ser excavados y excitar con los resultados obtenidos a todas aquellas personas que aman el excitante mundo de la historia de la vida en la Tierra: la paleontología.
