The museum focuses on the geological story of the Boom clay layers and the geology of the area, and the craft of brick making. The geological story is scientifically founded and is presented by film, geological maps and didactic panels. Most attention is paid to the Boom clay, the raw material for the brick works in the Rupel region. The main questions are: what is clay and how was the clay extracted? In addition, the museum has a beautiful collection of fossils, derived from the Boom clay. For example, there is a beautiful collection of shark teeth and bones from mammals, such as mammoth, bison, rhinoceros and elephants, disappeared from our regions. In the other part of the museum, the visitor is taken along the Rupel region of the famous writer Piet Van Aken, who was born inthe neighbour municipality Terhagen (15 February 1920 - Antwerp, 3 May 1984). Wall painting and life-sized figures present and interprete the production of bricks, starting from clay digging, hand moulding, firing them in the kiln, and paying out the workers' salaries at the local pub. Audioguides are available to every visitor. GO TO LINK Gallery:
