Our tour takes us from Żejtun through the fortification gate - Notre Dame Gate which was one of the seven gates leading to the cities. We will proceed to visiting these cities which can rightly claim to be the cradle of Maltese history, as Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua have provided a home and fortress to almost every people who settled on the Islands. Their harbour inlets have been in use since Phoenician times: the docks always providing a living for local people, but also leaving them vulnerable when Malta’s rulers were at war. As the first home to the Knights of St. John, the Cities’ palaces, churches, forts and bastions are far older than Valletta’s. The Tour starts at Birmula Heritage, in Cospicua, where we will see one of the last remaining medieval houses in the area. We will proceed to visit the town of Vittoriosa visiting the Inquistor’s Palace, and the Maritime museum. Following a traditional and organic and Maltese lunch in an old house in Vittoriosa we will take a ride in the traditional water taxi which will take us around the harbour, visiting the castle of St. Angelo from where Grand Master La Vallette guided the Maltese Victory of the Turks in 1565, and the town of Kalkara where the Science Museum is located. The boat will take us to Senglea where we will visit the miraculous shrine of the redeemer and the famous look out post - il- Gardjola, from where we can enjoy a view of the Grand Harbour, providing a fitting end to our visit.
