Available LanguagesLanguage En Regional Museum of CeramicsThe Regional Museum of Deruta ceramics made in 1898 is the oldest Italian museum for ceramics. It is located in the fourteenth-century monastery of San Francisco and contains over 6000 works. The entrance halls are free and seat of synthetic temporary exhibitions. The path, which extends from the ground floor to the upper two floors and is introduced by a lecture hall, described, organized into periods, the evolution of Deruta majolica production from the archaic to the twentieth century. Since September 2013, the guided tour includes the Archaeological Area of San Salvatore Kilns. Today an underground tunnel connects the Ceramics Regional Museum with the Archaeological Area of San Salvatore Kilns, and allows a single journey from ancient kilns for firing pottery to historical collections, to the productions of the twentieth century, the precious library of industry and the spaces dedicated to conferences, the teaching and laboratory activities and temporary exhibitions. It Museo regionale della CeramicaIl Museo Regionale della Ceramica di Deruta costituito nel 1898 è il più antico museo italiano per la ceramica, è situato nel trecentesco complesso conventuale di San Francesco e conserva oltre 6000 opere. Le sale d’ingresso sono libere e sede di esposizioni temporanee. Il percorso, che si sviluppa dal piano terra ed ai due piani superiori è introdotto da una sala didattica che descrive l’evoluzione della maiolica derutese. Dal settembre 2013 il percorso di visita comprende anche l’Area Archeologica delle Fornaci di San Salvatore. Un tunnel sotterraneo collega il Museo Regionale della Ceramica con l’Area Archeologica delle Fornaci di San Salvatore e consente un itinerario unico che spazia dalle antiche Fornaci per la cottura della ceramica alle collezioni storiche, per finire con l’antica biblioteca di settore e agli spazi dedicati alle conferenze, alle attività didattiche e di laboratorio e alle mostre temporanee.
