Before passing under the bridge of the motorway we can remark a little stretch of the old Leie meander, now enclosed by the motorway and the industrial estate. This was the place where the ‘Groot Volander’ flax farm retted the flax in the Leie. The farm has disappeared and the Volander site is now a popular place for anglers.
