The house was built between 1890 and 1896, designed by architect R. Buyck (Bruges). It was part of a large brewery "Les Trois Rois", one of the largest in the region of South West Flanders. The brewery itself was demolished. The owner was A. Lannoy, who was president of the Belgian Brewer’s Association before the First World War. It is a stately building built in neo-Flemish-Renaissance style, with access via a carriageway. In the hall we find a staircase with flat Ionian pilasters, decorated with wrought iron gas lighting in Art Nouveau style. Other beautiful spaces are the library (originally used as a dining room), the drawing room or ‘salon’ consists of a three-rooms enfilade with exceptionally richly crafted mantlepieces. The first ‘salon’ has a bas relief with depiction of putti (signed "Jules Weyns 1890"). Then comes a second salon and a Venetian salon (added in 1920), the southern part of which is covered with a flat glass dome. The three walls of the Venetian salon are covered with paintings with views of Venice. These were performed in 1923 by Alfred Wallecan, then director of the Menen Academy. In 1920 a so-called glass lounge was also added. On the upper floor there are a number of rooms in Louis XV and Louis XVI . The beautiful property was protected historic monument in June 1995. It was bought by the city and is now being used as the Municipal Academy of Fine Arts. GO TO LINK
